Seeing the part, not reading a table of numbers

Staff and customers squinted at rows of numbers to picture a part. We built a browser tool that just shows it.

The problem

To understand a part, you had to read a dense table of sizes and build the picture in your head. Easy to misread. Hard to compare.

The existing process

Flip through a PDF catalog or a spreadsheet of numbers, find the right row, and turn the numbers into a shape and size in your head.

Why it mattered

Misreading a number led to wrong picks and callbacks. And a wall of numbers made the product harder to use than it should be.

What we did

We built a tool that draws the shape and its sizes right in the browser. Now people can see and compare parts instead of decoding a table.

The result

Picking and comparing parts is faster and safer. And the tool is nice enough to put in front of customers, too.

What happened next

It worked so well inside that they wanted a public version on the website as a sales aid.
