The problem
Every question meant digging through years of manuals and files spread across folders. New hires asked the same few people all day.
The existing process
You opened five files, skimmed for the answer, and hoped it was the current one. The real answers lived in a few old-timers' heads.
Why it mattered
It was slow. It pulled busy people off their own work. And when a veteran retired, that knowledge walked out the door.
What we did
We built a chat helper that reads their own files and answers plain questions. It shows the exact page it used, so nobody has to just trust it. It only knows their stuff, not the whole internet.
The result
People get an answer in seconds, with the source right there, instead of bugging the one person who knows. New hires get up to speed faster.
What happened next
Once it worked for the manuals, they pointed it at their notes and past jobs so it could answer from those too.
